Salutations.
This is Flocabulary and we got some tips for all those that are going to the 33rd annual ISTE conference in San Diego.
This is for the I (International) S (Society for) T (Technology in) E (Education).
Are you heading to ISTE? Well that’s cool,
We’re Flocab, here’s a few tips you can use.
You’ll be in San Diego, not just at the beach,
You’ll be learning new stuff that you’ll probably tweet.
This year's theme is "Expanding Horizons,"
So be prepared to get some mental exercise in.
We've got about 20,000 edtech pros,
And educators from all around the globe.
Whether this is your first time or 33rd trip,
You’ll have more fun if you follow these tips:
1. Get sleep, bring snacks, wear comfy shoes,
It’s not the time to rock stilettos or boots.
2. Hey you, make friends, go ahead and say, “Hi,”
You can hang in the Newbie Lounge if it's your first time.
3. Make sure all of your gadgets are charged,
Cell phone, laptop and your iPod or iPad.
4. Don't forget the free swag,
Leave room in your stomach and room in your bag.
5. If you tweet, use the right hashtag,
#ISTE12, that’s that.
6. Plan ahead - but it's cool if you change,
Don't freak out - you can't see everything.
7. But be sure to catch an ISTE Unplugged,
Kinda like MTV - well not so much.
8. If a session is a bust, it's cool you can leave,
Check on Twitter if there's something you can't see.
9. Hang in San Diego on the district dime,
Catch the Padres for cheap or just have a good time.
10. Last but not least, Flocab's what we're repping,
Visit us in booth 3347!
Peace!

What's ISTE? Well it stands for The International Society for Technology in Education. It's a membership organization for educators who are interested in advancing the role of technology in education. And each year, the organization holds a conference for edtech professionals to share the newest and best technology and get it in the classroom. Visit the official conference website.

While you're in San Diego, you can watch the sun set over the Pacific. A real sight to behold if you've never experienced it before. ISTE means "Expanding Horizons" figuratively, as well.

This is the 33rd annual ISTE conference. Here's some trivia: Back when it started, ISTE was called NECC, for National Educational Computing Conference.

ISTE may be pricey to attend, but it pays for itself in free candy... and other swag you can find on the vendor floor. Ask yourself, "Do I love grabbing freebies?" Be honest. If the answer if yes, make sure to leave room in your suitcase.

We recommend checking out the ISTE schedule ahead of time. There's a lot to do, and if you come in with a plan, there's a better chance that you'll get to see what you want. That being said, don't get upset if your plans change. With so much activity, sometimes you'll just have to go with the flow. And you might end up discovering something incredible anyway!
