Flocabulary Presents

The Week in Rap is free current events resource for teachers, students and anyone else interested in getting their news in an engaging format. It is used by thousands of social studies, language arts, and homeroom teachers in schools across the country.

Here is how it works:

1. Each week we create a 1-3 minute rap song that summarizes that week’s current events.

2. We create a music video using news footage to accompany the song.

3. We post the video on TheWeekInRap.com each Thursday night, and send out an email to subscribers letting them know that it is up.

4. In each post, we include the video (hosted by vimeo), a link to a downloadable quicktime version of the video (for schools that block vimeo), the lyrics, and links to newspaper stories. The links allow students and interested viewers to learn more about each headline. You can also view the videos on Youtube. The whole project is produced by Flocabulary.

5. It’s completely free!

“Thank you so much for all of your hard work on this web site. My students last year ABSOLUTELY loved the weekly current events. I cannot tell you how valuable this site is. Please, please, please keep them coming. You do a wonderful job. I personally enjoy hip hop and rap, and as a social studies teacher, the current events are spot on! Truly genius. Thank you for your commitment to educating, entertaining, and informing our youth with a positive and energetic message each week. Looking forward to another great year!”
