Staff Training: Get the Most Out of Your Flocabulary Purchase
Training is an essential part of every Flocabulary purchase. Our training will get your staff excited about using Flocabulary, and provide them with the knowledge and education strategies necessary to successfully implement the program. Educators are introduced to key research topics and taught how to utilize and manage the materials effectively. An emphasis is placed on modeling a sample lesson and making sure teachers are comfortable with all aspects of the program. There is also a brief introduction to bonus activities such as writing and performance. Two-Hour Live Session: $1,500. Full-Day Live: $2,000.Thirty-Minute Webex: $300. One-Hour Webex: $400.
Hip-Hop in the Classroom: Engagement Strategies for the 21st-Century Student

Intro to Flocabulary
Flocabulary artists will introduce the concept of learning through hip-hop and then perform several songs. This session is an ideal way to introduce your students to Flocabulary after a purchase. Designed for a short assembly format, this session is primarily performance-based, and Flocabulary artists can perform songs from the materials that the students will be using. A portion of this session is also devoted to motivating students and encouraging them to think critically in and out of the classroom. Two 45-Minute Sessions Rate: $1,500. Full-Day Rate: $2,000.
The Flocabulary Writing Workshop
This session gets students writing their own academic raps. After making a connection between hip-hop lyrics and classical poetry, students will have the opportunity to write their own Flocabulary-style lyrics that feature academic standards. While this session focuses heavily on writing, it can be adapted to any subject and supports the idea of writing across the curriculum. The culminating event is a performance of the students work. One 90-Minute Session Rate: $1,500. Full-Day Rate: $2,000.
Lit Hop with Baba Brinkman
An acclaimed scholar, performer and rapper, Baba Brinkman brings his unique energy and talent to schools worldwide. He offers two programs: "The Rap Canterbury Tales" and a rhyme-writing workshop. The Rap Canterbury Tales is a clever, entertaining, and utterly hilarious one-man adaptation of Chaucer's medieval masterpiece. The presentation includes a discussion of Chaucer's narrative techniques and poetic form in The Canterbury Tales compared to the narrative techniques and practices of contemporary hip-hop culture, followed by a Canterbury Tales rap performance. The rhyme-writing workshop teaches participants the basics of hip-hop rhyme and rhythm technique, using familiar examples from hip-hop songs to illustrate various styles. These techniques are then put into practice in a hands-on writing exercise, motivating participants to compose raps of their own and experiment with lyrical wordplay. Rate: $1,500 for each 90-minute workshop.
Hip-Hop: A Musical Culture with M.C. K-Swift
M.C. K-Swift is the program co-director of Art Starts One Mic as well as a hip-hop artist and an educator who has been recording and performing since 1994. Using hip-hop music and cultural history as a springboard, participants in K-Swift's session will explore their own histories and creativity. This workshop delves into the inner workings of rap as a poetic form as well as the cultural contexts that inform the genre. By reaching back through the history of African American music, participants will enrich their writing and performance while exploring soulful manifestations of poetry and song. The parameters of rap will be pushed to new boundaries, and students will be encouraged to approach this art form with a creative and critical mindset. One 90-Minute Session Rate: $1,500. Full-Day Rate: $2,000Rates above do not include travel expenses.
