Flocabulary Professional Development

Flocabulary PD facilitators also offer an excellent general workshop that is not dependent on the purchase of Flocabulary materials. In this session, the Flocabulary concept is introduced with a focus on cutting edge research and a discussion of using popular culture to bring the curriculum to life for struggling students. In addition, participants will be exposed to exciting lesson plans that they can take back to the classroom and implement immediately. This fun, interactive workshop culminates with a brief writing lesson in which teachers have the opportunity to write and perform short academic raps. This session can be tailored to all academic subjects and is always a big hit with teachers.

Objective: Introduce the Flocabulary Concept and present the research associated with using hip-hop and other pop culture elements in the classroom. After discussing theory, specific lesson plan ideas and applications will be generated in an interactive group discussion. This session can be customized to any academic subject.
