The Flocabulary Writing Workshop

This session is an interactive introduction to hip-hop songwriting and poetry. After making a connection between hip-hop lyrics and classical poetry, students will have the opportunity to write their own Flocabulary-style lyrics that feature academic standards. While this session focuses heavily on writing, it can be adapted to any subject and supports the idea of writing across the curriculum. The culminating event is a performance of the students’ work.

Objective: Students will learn to analyze, write and perform rhyming poems and raps.
