It might sound impossible, contradictory or even sacrilegious to some, but we firmly believe in it: hip-hop should be in every classroom in America. Not only does hip-hop music engage kids in what they're passionate about, the mnemonic power of rap lyrics make it easy for students to learn and remember information. So we create positive, educational hip-hop music to get kids learning and get them engaged with academic material.

Having worked as tutors in Berkeley, Philadelphia and Boston, we've come to realize that the most fundamental step in teaching is getting students motivated to learn!

We had this in mind when we created Flocabulary. Flocabulary seeks not only to teach vocabulary words, but also to motivate and engage students. We want to encourage students to be passionate and to bring the things in their lives that hold their passion (music, art, relationships, creativity) into the classroom. We also want them to bring what they learn in the classroom out into the world.
