Implementation Suggestions
Financial Literacy for Economics Classes
If you teach an economics course, many of the financial literacy topics will align to your curriculum. At the beginning of the school year, review the videos to see how they match up with your curriculum.
Use SEL to Set a Positive Tone
Flocabulary's Social & Emotional Learning videos on topics like building empathy, active listening, managing frustration, bullying and time management can help build students' resilience and interpersonal skills and foster class community. Kick off the school year by watching one or more of these videos, and use them to reinforce these skills throughout the year. They can also prompt discussion during class meetings. Life Skills in Advisory or Homeroom
If your school has a homeroom or advisory period, you have an opportunity to use that time to increase student knowledge about money management or facilitate a discussion about how to behave online. Additionally, homerooms also serve the function of cultivating a smaller community or home base within a larger school. The life skills topics can be an entry point to get students to open up about their lives and connect with other students.

Financial Literacy Lessons
Our financial literacy videos were created in partnership with City University of New York and New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, and are aligned to the Council for Economic Education's standards. Each video is accompanied by an in-depth activity sheet that gives students the chance to practice the skills in the video and ask think about financial literacy in their own lives. After you've followed the Flocabulary video lesson sequence, you can spend a class period reviewing the worksheet and having students share their results.
Setting SMART Goals
In this lesson plan, students will use Flocab’s SMART goals video as inspiration to craft goals that are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and timely. They will then interview their peers about their goals to assess whether they meet the SMART criteria.
Test-Taking Vocabulary
Use this interdisciplinary lesson plan to help your students prepare for high-stakes tests or final exams. The lesson uses our Test-Taking Vocabulary video in conjunction with any Flocabulary video of your choosing and has students practice writing their own test questions using test-taking vocab!
